FC PLANNING OFFICE

Although a label can read "100% Cotton," those of us who produce fabric from raw materials think of it in the same way as . . . rice.
Cotton, like rice, is produced all over the world. Also, like rice, cotton has various individual characteristics, depending on the region of production. Similarly, cotton is produced, processed, and eventually bought and sold by cotton merchants. Again, like rice, cotton production depends on the natural environment. This knowledge explains why cotton produced in India is spun in Turkey or why American cotton varieties are grown in Israel. Knowing about this diversity in production makes cotton more and more interesting.
The cotton passes through the hands of many people to finally become a single thread, something worth so much more than a garment.
An original thread from out of nowhere.
